Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about professional underwater hull cleaning, anode protection, pricing, safety, and diver inspections in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.

General

No. Our certified commercial divers perform every service directly in the water, at your marina wet slip, private dock, or canal anchorage. There's no haul-out, no travel lift, and no downtime for your vessel.

We recommend every 3 to 4 weeks during the high-growth summer months (May to October) and every 4 to 6 weeks in the winter. South Florida's warm waters and high salinity accelerate barnacle, tube worm, and algae growth, so regular maintenance prevents heavy fouling, protects your bottom paint, and keeps fuel consumption in check.

Depending on how long growth has been left to build up, a fouled hull and running gear can increase fuel consumption by anywhere from 10% to 30%. Slime alone adds measurable drag within weeks; hard barnacle growth is far worse and also risks damaging bottom paint and clogging water intakes.

Either works. Most owners settle into a recurring monthly or bi-weekly schedule because it's the most cost-effective way to prevent heavy fouling, but a one-time cleaning, inspection, or anode replacement is always available with no commitment required.

We operate throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties, from Homestead and Key Biscayne up through Jupiter and the surrounding marinas, canals, and private docks in between. See our Service Areas menu for the full list of cities and marinas we cover.

No. All cleaning is done mechanically underwater with soft-bristle brushes for ablative and antifouling paint, and scrapers used selectively on hard metal running gear or heavy barnacle removal. No chemical treatments touch your hull or the surrounding water.

Service Details

No, you do not need to be present. Our certified commercial divers carry out the hull cleaning directly at your marina wet slip, private dock, or canal anchorage. Once completed, we send you a detailed post-service report covering the condition of your running gear, zinc anodes, and bottom paint.

A standard service includes scrubbing the entire hull bottom, cleaning all running gear (shafts, propellers, struts, and rudders), clearing water intake grates, thruster tunnels, and depth transducer sensors, plus a full visual inspection of your sacrificial zinc anodes and bottom paint condition with a written report.

Sacrificial zinc anodes should be replaced once they reach roughly 50% wear or erosion. They protect your vessel's valuable metal parts (shafts, props, thrusters, and rudders) from galvanic corrosion, and waiting until they're fully gone puts your running gear at risk of rapid pitting and galvanic damage.

No, not when performed by professional divers. We evaluate the type of bottom paint on your vessel (ablative vs. hard epoxy) and use soft-bristle brushes on soft ablative paints to remove algae and slime without stripping the active layer. Scrapers are only used selectively on metal running gear or for heavy hard-barnacle removal to preserve the paint's lifespan.

Yes. We're happy to send a diver out for a free underwater inspection before you commit to anything. You'll get a straightforward report on hull condition, anode wear, and running gear so you know exactly what (if anything) needs attention.

Proof & Quality

Every service comes with a written post-service report, and we're happy to provide before-and-after underwater photos or video documentation of the hull, running gear, and anodes on request, so you have a clear record of what was found and what was cleaned or replaced.

Pricing

No. The quote you receive covers the service in full, with no separate travel, dispatch, or fuel surcharge added on afterward.

Labor for underwater cleaning and inspection services is generally not subject to Florida sales tax. Physical parts we supply and install, such as zinc or aluminum anodes, may carry sales tax, which will always be itemized clearly on your invoice.

Safety & Insurance

Yes. All work is performed by fully insured, commercial-grade certified divers. We carry general liability coverage and follow standard commercial diving safety practices on every job.

Before entering the water, we notify marina staff or dockmasters when required, confirm with the vessel owner or captain that engines and thrusters will stay off during the dive, and mark the work area so other boaters and dock traffic are aware a diver is in the water.
